Nadia Ashraf Suicide Mystery-Harassed by professor,troubled PhD student and Sever depression.
Nadia Ashraf Chaudary was born in Bahawalpur, apparently a happy living and promising student,shifted to Karachi with well built ambitious and aims for higher education in Karachi University,but no one would ever envisage the acute depression she was going through inside and how it came to a point that she gave up on life.
Nadia took admission in molecular medicines and drug research,Dr.Punjwani Center Karachi with the aim of doing research and making thesis on Cancer related topic.She used to live with her mother in a flat.Few days ago(14th August,2020) her mother went outside for some work and grocery,on returning back to flat her mother was left devastating and numb when she saw her daughter dead,by allegedly committing suicide .On investigation to this case from her colleagues and close friends,so many chapters opened up.Nadia was having troublesome for so long to complete her phD (past 15 years)and she was supposed to complete and get her phD degree in 2016.
Her two closed friends revealed how she was disturbed because of this degree issue, she used to tell them:
“Dr. Iqbal Chaudary will never allow me to have a phD,I don’t know what the doctor wants from me”
As her phD supervisor Professor Iqbal Chaudary always points gratuitous mistakes and left no vindicate to reject her monthly based hard-work(thesis).He used to pester her along with his fellow professor Atyial Wahab.They revealed further more that she used to stay very less lively,dull and ill, also tried to commit suicide two years ago in 2018 by cutting her wrist.When she heard news of a student who had lesser marks than Nadia’s work but still managed to get degree by the same Supervisor Dr.Iqbal.This was the moment when she felt ambushed and helpless and she became a victim of depression.
Though her depression was quite evident that she was taken to doctor/psychiatrist.Where they discovered she was having a mental disorder issue known as schizophrenia.(Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations and extremely disordered thinking and behavior ).It can be developed in body either by DNA(genetics) and either by sever depression.Actually Nadia’s father went missing in 2007 with whom she was very much attached this incident somehow made her very sensitive and weak emotionally.Their family faced allot of continuous problems in property case too after her father disappearance.
Giving up on Phd,she froze her degree and started doing job in some other good organization.Dr. iqbal left no space to disturb her job life too and he kept on intimidating her to leave that job or else she will never get the degree. Eventually she resigned and joined Dr. Punjwani center to resume her phD by taking phD extension, on completion of her extension she submitted her thesis to her supervisor, which got rejected again and her supervisor suggested her to take more 6 month extension.This was a moment when she cognized her position was very vulnerable to fight 18 years experienced Director Dr. Iqbal Chaudary.
His brother shared once I told her that I want to meet her supervisor and want to discuss this degree issue,she became very anxious and stopped me to meet her supervisor as she knew it will give rise to more trouble for her.
Look at this smiling beautiful lady who is no more in this world because of some cold blooded so called humans.Who knows how many people will suffer same in future?
We live in a society where harassment is considered normal and just the accurate behavior.Society is least protective about students and intellectual.It has been enough down of letting our valued citizens especially women who are easy to attack.We are living in a society where suicide is only treated as a Haram way of taking your own life, we never focuses on the fact that there is always a silent killer behind every suicide case who pushes a person to a level to end his/her own life.
This case has caused a huge outrage in the youth of Pakistan and they are demanding justice for Nadia,so that no other son and daughter of any parents have to face the akin case in their very basic educational era.
