Sabar’s Arrest Background

The Iranian influencer Sahar tabar whose real name is Fatemeh Khishvand Born in June 16, 2001 (age 19 years) posted heavily photoshoped distorted pictures images of herself for posting on instagram to resemble a zombie-like Angelina Jolie, was arrested in Tehran on 5 October 2019, on charges of disrespect for the Islamic Republic, gaining income through inappropriate means, publishing inappropriate and vulgar photographs and encouraging youths to corruption. Previous initial charges of blasphemy and inciting violence were later thrown out too.It was also stated that the arrest was a response to complaints from the public. Her Instagram account was deleted at the time of her arrest, but she initially already had caught worldwide enough attention in 2017 when she began sharing several selfies of her highly distorted face on her Instagram leading to many people and publications dubbing her the ‘Zombie Angelina Jolie’. Her account had amassed more than 486,000 followers before it was shut down.

The IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Channel ) TV2 interview mitigated the charges against Tabar by presenting her as a person with a psychological disorder, who had believed her posts were acceptable because of the encouragement she received from her many Instagram followers.

Three days later of sabar arrest, three more female Instagram influencers Sahra Afsharian, Sara Shariatmadari and Niloufar Moti’ei were arrested as well in Iran because they posted their dance video on their instagram and which was against their country’s law.

To her shock on 13th April 2020, Sahar Tabar was also diagnosed with COVID-19 while in prison during the pandemic in Iran, during this she ] appealed for release, her lawyers pushed to get her freed from jail after claims she had contacted coronavirus but the at the time, the court judge refused to grant bail.

However she was later cleared of two of the four charges, but still she’d been handed down a 10-year sentence term.

Masih Alinejad an Iranian journalist author, political activist, and women’s rights activist shared on her social media how much her mother upset for her daughter and said Sahar Tabar is only 19. Her joke landed her in jail and how much she cries every day to get her innocent daughter freed.

Alinejad also tweeted on twitter “Dear Angelina Jolie! we need your voice here. Help us,” urging the Hollywood star to campaign on Tabar’s behalf.

Ms Alinejad called on Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie to petition for Tabar’s release in a video, adding ‘Islamic Republic has a history of tormenting women. We need to be united against this gender apartheid.

Sabar’s Release

However in a dramatic move by the Iranian state.Masih Alinejad an Iranian journalist, has revealed that she has spoken to Tabar’s lawyer, and despite Sahar’s sentence, Tabar has been released on bail following “massive media pressure” and public outrage at her 10-year sentence with the teenager appearing on TV yesterday (December 17), the MailOnline reports.

Speaking to The Sun, Tabar’s layer, Saied Dehgan, revealed that she has been freed on bail after serving roughly 15 months of jail time.Sahar tabar after her released on appeared in a television interview with the Rokna news agency, revealing her real face for the first time on live television.

The Rokna news agency posted clips of Khishvand’s interview with state television but did not release what she said during her appearance and her face was blurred throughout the interview,in which she looked remorseful and said that she regretted her actions.

“I saw people were following what I did and, when the likes grew, I felt I was doing the right thing,” said during the interview”

During her interview Tabar told that she had sought Instagram fame having

“I wanted to be famous since I was a child, cyberspace was an easy way. It was much easier than becoming an actor,”

However, she apparently said that “I’m sure I will not even put Instagram on my phone anymore, let alone have a page”.

At one point Tabar claimed to have had 50 surgeries to achieve her Instagram look but later said she used a combination of photo editing and makeup. Tabar also said that it had been her childhood dream to become famous, and that she had persisted with her efforts to build her Instagram following despite her mother’s objections.

Cosmetic surgery is popular in Iran. The country has the highest rate of nose surgery in the world. A turned-up nose or just wearing a nose bandage is widely seen as fashionable, both among men and women, and among progressives and conservatives. Apart from beauty standards, the motivation for surgery may include expression of social status, marriage, self-expression, or boredom in a country with otherwise restricted dress codes. For some, it is “a reaction to the restrictive rules of compulsory hijab. As Instagram is the only major social media service accessible in Iran unlike Facebook and Twitter and the Telegram messenger service are officially banned. So these influencers express them selves on this platform.

God has created us all beautiful in different ways we should learn to accept our selves, freedom of expression is different than ruining you natural beauty.Let’s hope this young beautiful lady has a better life ahead.
